Welcome to Marine Academy

The brand new Post-16 Centre is a key part of the vision for MAP as the academy builds the confidence and ambitions of its young people. The designated Post-16 Centre will provide a separate facility for our Post -16 students to study, to meet with tutors and to socialise and relax. All areas will be interactive and provide facilities for independent study.

MAP is committed to preparing students for independent, adult life and therefore our students are fully involved with the whole college and the wider community. Our students are role models and leaders across every aspect of academy life; they act as mentors, support teaching and learning in the lower school, the primary school and in the nursery.

At the Marine Academy we pride ourselves on having a 6th Form course for every student leaving Year 11. We have a wide choice of traditional A Levels as well as BTEC level 3 subjects and vocational options. Each student can expect a dedicated cou rse deliveri ng a range of pathways and employability.

We provide wrap-around care for students and ensure that all students can aspire to a fulfilling future whether students are contemplating an Apprenticeship, further training or Higher Education.

Being able to capitalise on the resources of our sponsors, the Plymouth University and Cornwall College, puts us in a unique position within the city of Plymouth.

Students will start their 6th Form studies working at the most appropriate level, but at all times we have the highest expectations of students’ abilities and their potential to achieve.
