Welcome to Ormiston Rivers Academy


The Sixth Form at Ormiston Rivers Academy is a pleasant and enriching experience. It provides both challenging and stimulating programmes and is housed in purpose-built accommodation that includes a study room that is fully equipped with up-to-date technology, a common room and a range of dedicated teaching rooms.

We provide an inclusive Sixth Form, offering both level 2 and 3 qualifications, to meet the progression needs of our students and external applicants. Our Sixth Form provides excellent teaching and learning across a wide range of subjects. Students can choose to study a wide range of A-Level qualifications as well as a range of vocational subjects and a research based extended project. The Sixth Form will provide every student with a first class education. Through high quality educational resources and excellent teaching and learning, students will have clear progression pathways to university and employment.

At the heart of the Sixth Form lies a strong system of pastoral care. The Sixth Form pastoral team are on hand to support students with their studies, career and higher education guidance and applications. Students are expected to develop and demonstrate qualities of self-motivation, maturity, resilience and commitment to their studies. We are very proud of the outcomes achieved by our students.

Learner success

Josh Collier (Head Boy) – achieved 3 A Levels (A*,A,A) in Geography, History & Philosophy & Ethics and A* in his Extended Project and will be studying History at York University

Kathryn Ponder (Head Girl) – achieved 3 A Levels (A,A,A) in History, Performing Arts and Philosophy & Ethics and an A* in her Extended Project and will be studying History at Royal Holloway University

Mason Holmes – achieved 3 A Levels (A,B,B) in Mathematics, Economics and Physics, and a C in his Extended Project and will be studying Maths & Economics at Loughborough University

Bridget Bellamy – achieved 3 A Levels (A,B,B) in English Literature, History and Philosophy & Ethics and will be taking a gap year before studying Politics at University

Katie Fowler – achieved 3 A Levels (B,B,B) in Geography, History & Performing Arts and will be studying Geography at the University of Sussex

Charlotte Fulcher – achieved 3 A Levels (B,B,B) in Chemistry, History and Design Technology (Food) and has secured an apprenticeship in Business & Administration in Westminster

Fin McSean – achieved 4 A Levels (B,B,C,D) in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Physics and A* in his Extended Project and will be studying Natural Science at Leicester University

Emma Welham – achieved 3 A Levels (A,A,B) in Chemistry, Physics and Biology and A* in her Extended Project and will be studying Chemistry at the University of Reading
