Welcome to Little Heath School

Welcome to the dedicated Sixth Form pages of Little Heath School’s website. The Sixth Form continues to be at the heart of our school. I hope that these pages give a flavour of the work that we do at Key Stage 5, whether you are a parent, a current student, a visitor to the school or someone who is considering a place in our Sixth Form.

There is no doubt that Little Heath School is a special place. Students who join us in Key Stage 5 achieve real successin their BTEc or traditional A level courses. Over 60% of our Year 13 students were offered a place at university in 2013, which is a figure significantly above the national average. Standards in Sixth Form achievement have been consistently high at the school over the last five years. In 2013, students in our successful Year 13 cohort achieved results that placed us in the top 25% of Sixth Form schools nationally, according to the nationally recognised ALPS group. We are hugely proud of the students and their achievements.

Much of this achievement is due to the high quality of learning and teaching across the school, where excellent guidance is matched by a strong sense of challenge. We have an inclusive approach to the Sixth Form, but encourage all students to extend themselves in their studies, to learn more independently. As part of this package, we offer a broad curriculum. The emphasis is on providing the right course for the individual student. The Sixth Form prospectus will provide you with information about the range of courses available at Little Heath, as will the section on Our Courses within the menu bar to the left.

Of course, learning is not just about the classroom. Sixth Form students are offered a wealth of wider learning opportunities, including music, drama, art and sport. The school’s Duke of Edinburgh scheme is hugely successful, and recent educational trips have included an art trip to St. Ives a geography trip to Naples and an expedition to Cambodia in 2012.

If you are considering joining us at Little Heath School, I hope that you find these website pages useful in showing the vibrant and hard-working Sixth Form community that we have at the school. If there is any further information that you require, please do not hesitate to contact the Sixth Form team. If you are currently studying at another school, we invite you to organise a visit at any time. Again, please arrange this through the Sixth Form office.

Might I also take this opportunity to wish the outgoing Year 13 cohort every success in their futures. There is no doubt that 2013 was a milestone year in your lives. We look forward to seeing them again at our annual Presentation evening later in the term!
