Welcome to Glossopdale Community College

The College is going from strength to strength. The OfSTED inspection which took place in November 13 found that the College has improved considerably since the last inspection and as a result expectations and standards have been raised.
They reported that the strengths of the College were;

improved achievement in a number of areas, including mathematics;
the quality of teaching, the vast majority being good or outstanding;
literacy skills are developed across subjects,
and that students are polite, feel safe and bullying is rare.
There are still some areas which require improvement and we remain absolutely determined and resolute in achieving the goal of the local community having an outstanding learning institution.

The College has achieved its best GCSE results again in 2013 and continues to progress. This year we attained our highest exam results with 93% of students gaining 5 or more GCSEs at grade C or above, which is a 43% improvement over 5 years. Also, 98% of students left with 5 or more GCSEs and 40% of students achieved 3 or more A*/A grades. 56% of our students gained 5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths. Furthermore, this year our Mathematics Faculty continued their improvement with 76% of students receiving a grade C or above - a 20% increase over 2 years.

Congratulations to all of the students and a big thank you to the staff, parents and governors for their hard work and continued support.

We are a happy and flourishing learning community with a passion for excellence. We are particularly proud of our Performing Arts status and the impact this has across the whole College and the community of the Glossop area.

We are committed to our comprehensive values. Our expectations are high because we care about our students. We believe that every young person is special, with unique talents, skills and qualities that should be recognised and nurtured. Our ambition is to build a community of successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens where all students, regardless of age, ability, or background, are engaged, challenged, inspired and supported in their learning. Our core purpose is to ensure that students of all abilities and backgrounds fly high and have high aspirations.

Glossopdale Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are extremely proud of our school and believe that we provide a flourishing and exciting place of learning for the Glossop community. Please take a look round our website to find out more.
