At The Bourne Academy, we promise that by working with you, we will strive to ensure your child achieves their absolute best, is safe and happy and challenged to be creative and think. We are all here to learn. We will all treat each other with respect, whether child or adult and we will celebrate everyone's successes, whatever role they are in. Learning is a journey involving making decisions and making mistakes. It is the discovery of new ideas and new answers. At The Bourne Academy it is safe to make mistakes and not to know the right answer.
We believe that all students should be empowered to achieve and aspire to the highest, be treated with respect and treat others with respect and enjoy the Academy. We do not tolerate any form of bullying, whether emotional or physical. Behaviour which is not respectful or which prevents people from learning, is not tolerated.
Our specialisms of Engineering & Design and English help us to encourage creativity across all aspects of learning. The quality of learning and teaching is at the centre of our success and the Academy's talented and committed staff will support and work with your child so that they go out into the world as a self-confident thinking person, able to communicate and empathise with others, looking for opportunities to be successful and eager to carry on learning for the rest of their lives.

The Bourne Academy vision outlines our central belief that everyone is a learner and everyone is a teacher. Our purpose is that we develop literate, numerate global citizens who are Ambitious, Self-confident, Physically Literate, Independent Learners, Resilient and Emotionally Literate.
Through the Academy’s specialism of English, all teaching is underpinned by literacy as the key to personalised learning. Each student’s progress in literacy is related to their ability to think and learn. It opens up personal pathways to success and is central to personal expression and active participation in global society, economy and culture. The recent Ofsted inspection noted that 'the proportion of students making and exceeding the progress expected nationally in English is very much higher than average, resulting in high attainment in GCSE at grades A* - C.'
Through the Academy’s specialism of Engineering and Design, all learning and teaching is underpinned by numeracy as the key to accessing the building blocks of human society and making informed decisions based on numerical data and on logical thought.
We enable every student to:
- Have belief in, and a positive vision for themselves, their future and their school
- Be literate and be able to communicate ideas clearly and confidently
- Think clearly and be able to question, make decisions and solve problems
- Understand and apply engineering and design principles to make life better for people
- Be well prepared to participate in the community and as a global citizen
The 6th Form centre is solely for the use of 6th Form students and is a place for socialising and work. The light and airy rooms house their very own kitchen, relaxation area with television and study area.
