Welcome to Whitefield School

Welcome to Whitefield School’s website. In these pages you will be able to find information about the curriculum your child will follow, the core values that underpin our actions, the remarkable developments have taken place here in the development of our learning facilities and a great deal more besides.

In January of this year Ofsted gave us a glowing report, saying, amongst other things, that 'The leadership and management of the school are outstanding. There have been significant improvements since the last inspection.

The Ofsted report was a ringing endorsement of the radical transformation and relentless focus on standards that underpins our success.

This focus on standards means that every single child is the subject of regular academic reviews and interventions where necessary. This meant that in 2010 we were one of the top 1% of most improved schools in the country and every year since this turning point, our student outcomes have improved still further.

We have invested over £2 million in refurbishing the site, so that the school itself, our classrooms and even our award winning toilets, are now bright and welcoming spaces. All classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards and students have access to seven specialist IT suites including a Media room full of the latest Apple Mac computers. We have five brand new Science laboratories being built this summer (2014) and two state of the art All Weather Pitches as well as an ongoing programme of refurbishment and renewal.

We are committed to developing the whole child and for the past two years have run well over 100 residential and field trips as a conscious decision to open the horizons of the students who come here, to show them theatre, museums, galleries and outward bound centres.  There are growing international links between Whitefield and a number of countries and closer to home our students organise and run lots events for local Primary and Special Schools and Senior Citizen centres. Whitefield students leave with a keen awareness of the need to act as responsible citizens at both a local and a global level.

I am incredibly proud of the young people and the staff who work at Whitefield. I am equally proud of the sustained progress that we have made. I would encourage you to come and see us in action. We have an open door policy so that you can ring and arrange to have a tour of our school and meet with me or another Senior Leader at a time of your convenience.

I look forward to meeting you.
