Welcome to Coleg y Cymoedd

Hello, my name is Judith Evans, Principal of Coleg y Cymoedd. This is another exciting year as we progress with our ambitious capital estates projects to enhance facilities for learners. We are currently creating a new campus in Aberdare which will open to learners in September 2017. Last year we opened a new railway training facility at Nantgarw Campus and a new motor vehicle training facility at Ystrad Mynach Campus. These projects will ensure that we remain responsive to employer needs and enhance learner opportunities for employment.

I am pleased that you are thinking of studying with us and I am sure that with our full range of vocational qualifications, 27 options at A Level and great work experience opportunities, we will have something that will appeal to you. We will provide you with excellent support and guidance to ensure you have all the information you need to make choices about career paths in the future, whether your aspiration is to go on to University, an apprenticeship or to employment. We also offer our unique BOOST programme on a Wednesday afternoon, which will give you the opportunity to gain important skills, participate in sporting activities, enter competitions and generally enhance your college experience.

Last year 9000 learners successfully completed their qualifications with us. This included a 97.3% pass rate in our A Level centre at Nantgarw.

Our campuses provide you with:

  • Superb learning facilities
  • Excellent employer and university links
  • Amazing science, engineering and technology laboratories and workshops
  • State of the art learning centres
  • Sport and fitness facilities
  • Performance and gallery spaces for music, drama and creative arts
  • Hair and Beauty Salons
  • Coffee shops and restaurants

But come and see for yourself, join us for our Open Events, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to keep up with what’s happening at the College.
