Welcome to Carlton Academy
This is a very exciting time for us all, with the school having been judged as a good school (OFSTED 2013) and having once again achieved the best results ever in both Year 11 and Year 13 in summer 2016. We are ambitious about all that we do and focus our work on improving the academic attainment of all our students. The Carlton Academy is fortunate to have wonderful facilities, exceptional staff, motivated students and supportive parents.
We are sponsored by The Redhill Academy Trust, under the leadership of Andrew Burns, Executive Principal and a National Leader of Education. We believe that these partnerships give us the opportunity to continue our improvements and for the school to be recognised both locally and nationally as a truly outstanding school. We share the four Redhill core principles:
- High expectations of all students
- Valuing and celebrating academic achievement
- Outstanding teaching for all students
- Widening students’ experiences through a range of extra-curricular activities including sports and the performing arts
I look forward to meeting with you soon.
Richard Pierpoint - Head Teacher
The Carlton Academy Sixth Form is a warm and friendly environment and our students feel safe and supported here. We are a relatively small Sixth Form in comparison to colleges, so all students are known to staff and everyone is valued as an individual.
Our team consists of an Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for Post-16, a Head of Sixth Form and our Sixth Form Administrator. Our aim is to ensure every student leaves the Academy having reached their full potential (both academically and pastorally). Students are closely monitored and supported by us to allow them to obtain both excellent academic results and to participate in a wide variety of leadership and enrichment programmes. We work extremely hard to provide students with the skills to equip them for employment and ensure all students complete a ’leadership passport’ while they are here to help outline their extra-curricular involvement to future Higher Education establishments and potential employers.
We are building on strong foundations to expand and develop our Sixth Form even further and we hope that you can join us on this exciting journey.
Our students are backed by a dedicated Post 16 Centre as well as access to specialist facilities across the site. A recently refurbished common room, ICT work room, photography technology and our fantastic new study centre support the drive for success. Even more important than the physical resources are the staff who work here; all of whom are passionate about giving you the advice and support you need to achieve your best.
