Welcome to The King's School, Grantham

I aim to lead a happy school in which the rich diversity of abilities and interests is recognised and valued. I believe that young people learn and develop best with clear and consistent work and behaviour expectations and where praise, enjoyment, consideration and respect are integral to the school’s life and ethos.

The school aims to inspire intellectual curiosity, a competitive spirit, and develop creative thinking, a sense of social responsibility and leadership skills. A strong sense of community underpins everything we do – learning to respect each others' backgrounds and beliefs. We value commitment, we celebrate success and we offer an environment which not only leads to academic success but also to self discovery and a sense of personal worth.
Outside the classroom, we offer an excellent range of high quality opportunities: membership of our thriving Combined Cadet Force; individual and team sports, foreign exchanges and travel, participation in music, drama and many other activities.
At King’s we are committed to developing generations of young men who, when they leave school, are fully rounded individuals with a host of skills and experiences equipping them for the many challenges and opportunities they will face in adult life. Our website can only convey a sense of the school as a learning community. There is no substitute for seeing us first hand, so if you are considering entry to The King’s School we will warmly welcome you at one of our open evenings.

About us

The King’s School is a selective school that admits boys from the age of eleven. The school educates students from Grantham and beyond, with a significant proportion living within three miles of us, thereby helping to maintain a strong community aspect.

This is a school with a long history, but at the same time we are forward looking. In fact it could be said that King’s reaches for the future from the basis of solid foundations. The foundations manifest themselves in the emphasis given to the importance of work, self-discipline, behaviour and achievement. From that foundation, we are able to help our students face and meet the needs of this rapidly changing world, by seeking to embrace new technologies and recognising the importance of links between education and the world of work.
At King’s we understand that while academic qualifications are important, education must be broader than that alone. Through the ethos and activities of the school, we strive to have a positive impact upon the students’ spiritual, moral, social, cultural and academic development and values.

Facilities available

The school has recently opened a state of the art Sixth Form Common Room with coffee bar, and dedicated Study Centre with full computer access . We hope to further extend the Sixth Form Centre to incorporate a refectory for our senior pupils and enlarged social space.

Additional support

Each student benefits from a system of regular monitoring and reporting and from individual guidance, support and advice provided by the pastoral team. The Head of Sixth Form is supported by Heads of Year 12 and 13 and an experienced team of tutors in overseeing the academic and personal development of all students.

In the Sixth Form we enjoy a close working relationship with our sister grammar school, Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School. This link provides a wider range of courses to follow as well as accompanying social benefits.
