Welcome to Sacred Heart Catholic College

At Sacred Heart, we are proud of our efforts to combine all that is good from the traditional with all that is exciting from the new.

Strengthened by our belief in long-standing values such as the commitment to high achievement and to realising the potential of all, we are also a forward-thinking organisation focused on equipping our students to take their place in the world of tomorrow.

In fact, as a Christian community we understand that the two aims are necessarily linked.

We see that a sense of identity and community, which can only come from pride in the daily life of the College, are the foundation stones for an ambitious and demanding experience aimed at forming empowered, moral and articulate citizens of the future.

That is why you will find at the College an appreciation of the importance of teamwork, consideration towards others and respect for the combined efforts of all.

This is our platform for the high quality experience of school life which has been the hallmark of Sacred Heart for many years.

In the pages that follow, we highlight some of the many and varied dimensions of that experience. This brochure is your invitation to come and test out the reality for yourself. We look forward to meeting you.

About us

In order to fulfil our mission we aim to:

  • provide for all children a Christian education which is rooted in the Catholic tradition
  • enable all children to reach the highest levels of achievement and prepare them for a life-long learning experience
  • develop each individual:  spiritually, morally, emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically
  • treat each person in a way which recognises and respects the equal and inestimable value of each unique human being
  • reflect community values through the collective responsibility of all adults for all children
  • provide a safe, caring environment in which children can experience security and be educationally challenged
  • provide a strong partnership with parents, parishes and the wider community and enable pupils to take an active part in their community

Fulfilling our Mission is inextricably linked to the support of British Values such as:

  • Democracy
  • Respect of the rule of law
  • Appreciation of the rights of other citizens
  • Individual liberty
  • The promotion of opportunities for all
  • Support for those who cannot, by themselves, sustain a dignified life-style
  • Religious tolerance and respect for cultural diversity
  • Treating others with fairness
  • Participation in community life
  • The contribution to, as well as the benefit from, cultural and economic resources

Our curriculum is rich in opportunities to reflect upon, celebrate and act upon such values via the RE curriculum, PSE lessons, assemblies and the many charitable outreach projects that touch local, national and international communities.
