Welcome to Flint High School

<p>It’s with great delight that I can write this knowing that this is the formal start to our exciting beginning of our work with our colleagues at St Richard Gwyn and the formation of our new 6th form. A lot of hard work and planning has gone into the creation of this new venture and I thank you all in advance for your support and help in making 6 the best sixth form it possibly can be.</p>

<p>A year ago Estyn described Flint High School as a school with the potential to be excellent. We at the school already believe we are exceeding that potential. Our exam results go from strength to strength and the first intake into 6 is likely to achieve the best examination results the school has ever seen. This leads me to thinking about how impressive our 6th form will be next year and how they will be an integral part of helping the school to further our success and continue to strive for excellence.</p>

<p>Flint High School prides itself on setting high expectations for all our students as well as providing outstanding pastoral care in the Sixth Form. As Head of Sixth Form I strive to form excellent relationships with not only the students but with their parents to ensure our learners have the best support and guidance to help them to achieve their potential. All students are supported through the UCAS University application process, from writing personal statements to completing finance forms, Having known the students for such a long time, I feel I am in an ideal position to be able to write their references; giving the universities they apply for the best indication of their abilities and suitability to study their chosen course. In the Sixth Form we are able to offer the same excellent support students received lower down the school; interviews with our learning coach, Mrs Weale and appointments as needed with the counsellors for example.</p>

<p>Having been part of Deeside Consortium for the last 7 or so years, our students are well used to working in different schools and mixing with students from different backgrounds and therefore I am confident that our new partnership is an excellent choice for our students. The partnership is an ideal solution, not only for our two schools but for the wider community of Flint. As a joint team, I am certain that 6 students will be an unstoppable force!</p>
