Welcome to Devizes School

Devizes Sixth Form is a dynamic and positive learning environment where we treat students as young adults. In addition to our own Y11 students from Devizes School, our extensive choice of courses and caring ethos attracts students from a wide range of other schools in the area.

Our overriding aim in Devizes Sixth Form is to maximise your academic achievement. This will enable you to access Higher Education, Further Education, or to gain employment with better prospects than would otherwise be the case. However there is obviously more to gain from two years with us than simply further academic qualifications.

Part of being a Sixth Form student is the transition into adulthood, since you are most likely to reach 18 whilst with us. The staff/ student relationship is therefore different in the Sixth Form. You wish to have more independence, more personal responsibility and be treated as a young adult. We offer that, indeed we expect that of you. Sixth Form is yet a nother stepping stone along your life path, and it is therefore important that this two way relationship works effectively. You will see and hear the phrase “right time, right place” many times whilst you are part of Devizes Sixth Form. Simple, clear and concise, it summarises your responsibility for your own progress and our expectation of you as a Sixth Form student.

A relatively small Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on the quality of individual Information and Guidance (IAG) we provide you with as preparation for your next step, whatever that may be. For something like three quarters of our most recent Year 13 cohort it was Higher Education. If you are not going on to Higher Education we have piloted and are extending our Business Mentoring Programme, which links individual students to local businesses, to help develop your understanding of employment and indeed your employability. We also have the benefit of a newly appointed Post 16 Careers specialist.
