Welcome to Pencoed Comprehensive School
Change is always an exciting prospect and the change from Primary to Secondary school is one that everyone remembers, with stories to tell!
At Pencoed Comprehensive School we try to ease the transition as far as possible by helping pupils to settle into our school community. Our recipe for success is working together with our excellent Primary partners and keeping everybody informed.
For the past two years, Pencoed Comprehensive has been following a clear school improvement agenda. We have already seen the benefits of new strategies at Advanced level and Key Stage 3.
Last year, an average per student, A level students achieved the equivalent of more than two A grades above the local and Welsh averages. Also, pupils in Year 9 achieved well in excess of local and national averages in all key indicators.
This summer, the school is expecting to reach new heights in results at Key Stage 4, as the two year improvement plan comes to fruition with the results from GCSE courses. The future for pupils at Pencoed is an extremely bright one!
Pencoed Comprehensive is a happy and caring school. We have an extensive green field site with high quality facilities in all areas. This is particularly true for sporting and performing arts accommodation which are also used widely by our local community.
The school has a strong family and community ethos, exemplified by our unique House and Pastoral systems which are very popular with our pupils. We believe that a happy, healthy and well supported young person will then have every opportunity to develop to their full potential academically, personally and socially.
There is a wealth of exciting learning opportunities available at Pencoed, from stimulating experiences in the classroom through a variety of school based clubs and teams to enjoyable and exciting trips and visits.
