Welcome to Ponteland Community High School

At Ponteland High School we are committed to establishing ourselves as one of the very best schools in the country. In order to make this a reality we are focused on ensuring that students are fully supported, yet challenged to push themselves beyond what they think they are capable of. Our driving aims are to develop a school community where our students are:

1.Happy

2.Feel safe and secure at all times

3.Achieve exceptionally well

We believe that a key ingredient in our future success is in recruiting and retaining the very best staff who are committed to our school and students. High quality classroom practice is the key factor in supporting students’ academic success and we ensure that teaching staff are engaged in thoughtful reflection and collaborative training to promote continuous improvement. At the same time we know that schools are about so much more than just qualifications and we are developing a rich experience that offers our students a wide range of trips and visits to enhance the curriculum as well as an array of opportunities to engage in extra-curricular activities. The school has retained a strong commitment to learning languages as we feel this will provide our students with an advantage in later life. Our international dimension is further supported through opportunities to experience foreign visits; this year alone we have students travelling to Kenya, France, Germany and Spain. I am very proud of our school and know that we are heading in the right direction. We would love you to come and visit us, speak to staff and students and get a feel for what life at Ponteland High School is really like.

About us

Ponteland High School has a large, vibrant and highly successful Post-16 with excellent opportunities for all, including both academic and extra-curricular activities. Students who take our Post-16 courses, enjoy a proven record of success in further and higher education, and in the world of work. Each student’s progress and development are carefully monitored by their tutors and the Post-16 team, and pastoral care continues throughout the student’s Post-16 life. We offer a very wide range of AS and A2 level courses and an increasingly diverse range of extra curricular opportunities. We also offer the prestigious Extended Project qualification.

Facilities available

The Post-16 centre includes a common room, study area and computer suite. This allows students to have access to excellent modern facilities for both study and socialising.
