Welcome to Pontypridd High School

Thank you for taking the opportunity to visit our new website. With over 1000 students on our roll, the range and quality of achievement is always going to be incredibly varied and this is one of the things that makes working in Pontypridd High School such a rewarding experience. Our students represent the School with great distinction. On school trips and visits their courtesy, confident manner and willingness to engage are always commented on favourably by other people. In Drama and Sports we continue to excel with numerous international honours and talented public performances. By supporting different communities through voluntary work or raising the profile of environmental awareness we also have a great deal to be proud of.

We are always keen to meet with people and invite comments about our work through parent evenings, transition events or inspection based school reviews. It is very pleasing that the common conclusions are that we are a very caring school that strives to provide each individual with the support they need whilst also challenging them to aspire to greater things. All of this reflects the fact that children enjoy their time at Pontypridd High School.

In 2014 more students gained GCSE qualifications at A* to C in key subjects such as English and Maths than ever before. Our performance compared to most Local Authority Schools is very pleasing and we are confident of reaching even higher standards. I can assure everyone that there is a collective determination to improve further.

The School motto is ‘Learning and Achieving Together’. Thank you to all of our highly committed staff, to each family and all other organisations with whom we have worked in partnership to provide the high quality support our children need to make progress and achieve the success they deserve.

Thank you and as always your support is very much appreciated.
