Welcome to Portslade Aldridge Community Academy

PACA students are offered many exciting opportunities in the areas of Sport, Science. Media and Entrepreneurship.

PACA students are given the chance to specialise in Cricket, Dance, Football or Multisport sports or Science through an Academy option for post 16 study. There is also the new exciting Brighton Digital Media Academy offering students the unique opportunity to train in this growing industry whilst getting work experience alongside real life industry leaders.

Entrepreneurship describes a state of mind which strives to solve problems rather than accept defeat.  We focus on the development of entrepreneurial attributes, rather than just enterprise skills. The PACA entrepreneurial attributes are passion, determination, risk taking, problem-solving, teamwork and creativity – qualities that we think will make PACA students successful in all areas of their lives.  These attributes underpin who we are and what we do at the Academy.

We have a rich programme of entrepreneurship activities throughout the year.  Some are key events, like the Global Entrepreneurship Day, where all students take part in a high profile activity day with representatives from the local business community.  Other events run throughout the curriculum and House system encouraging students to be successful in all they do.  Students have the opportunity to start up small businesses and see how ideas can become reality.

We want all students to have enquiring minds, to take risks and experiment so as to find solutions in life.

About us

Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) is a co-educational school based in the heart of the Mile Oak Community in Portslade, Brighton. We opened in September 2011 originally on two sites but 2014 saw the Sixth Form Centre being reunited with the main school back on the Chalky Road campus in an impressive new state of the art building. There has been significant development of this site with £12.7 million being recently invested over recent years in fantastic facilities, a new community library and a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre.

The Academy has seen a strong improvement in results since opening and a number of specialisms have been developed in science, cricket, football and dance. There is also a strong emphasis on an entrepreneurial approach throughout both teaching and extra curricular activities.
