Welcome to Saint Benedict, A Catholic Voluntary Academy

Offering a wide range of courses across levels 1, 2 and 3, we regard our Sixth Form students as young adults and treat them as such.  Encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions, our students are fully supported in learning how to manage their time and their work.

It would be a mistake to underestimate the level and quantity of work required in the Sixth Form.  Students find that study is at a greater depth, there is considerably more reading to do, along with more essay and assignment writing.  It is essential that students keep on top of their studies right from the start.  Our students are expected to attend every day, with attendance and punctuality being closely monitored.

Our experienced staff encourage students to work to their full potential academically, to take advantage of the many opportunities open to them, both in and out of the classroom, and to develop their skills in preparation for the time when they move on.

Sixth Form facilities have recently been extended and totally refurbished, providing a modern building which houses excellent study facilities, an internet cafĂ© and a common room.  The building is amply equipped with multimedia computers and data projectors.

Our non-teaching Sixth Form Co-ordinator operates an open door policy.  Based in Elmwood, our Sixth Form Centre, she is available for students on a daily basis to offer help and advice.  In addition, students have daily contact with their Personal Tutors who support students and encourage them to take responsibilities within their form and house.

Our entrance policy is based on students achieving at the end of their time with us, and as so is realistic and fair to all.
