Welcome to St John Fisher Catholic High School

Thank you for taking the time to read about our school. I am proud to serve St John Fisher Catholic High School as Headteacher, and lead such dedicated staff and talented students. We want to provide an education for life, and in terms of spiritual growth and academic achievement, St John Fisher offers everyone opportunities that will prepare them for their future.

In this country, the Catholic School system has long been renowned for its high standards of education. St John Fisher carries on this tradition, having a great deal to offer. As well as achieving academic excellence, we also provide an education based upon Gospel values, promoting the growth of the whole child, ensuring that they make the best of their talents.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and a wide geographical area. As a result our school community is vibrant and distinctive. Because our students interact with peers and adults from all walks of life throughout their time at school, they gain experience of many issues in today’s society. By the time they leave us, they are able to interact with people in the wider world with confidence, interest, compassion and without intimidation. They are indeed educated for life.

About us

Education gives people choice and opportunities. Our students achieve excellent examination results at GCSE level, and the vast majority go into the Associated Sixth Form of St John Fisher and St Aidan’s, then progress into the higher education system. A good percentage of our high achievers receive offers of places at the very best universities including Oxford and Cambridge. We also value the merits of a vocational education and work-related learning, including apprenticeships. After all, the academic route is not for everyone, and many of our students who have taken a vocational route have gone on to be extremely successful in both commerce and industry

We are a fully inclusive school, with a strong pastoral system that values every person in our community, particularly the most vulnerable. We also value our established specialisms in the arts and humanities, which emphasises the personal growth of our students and their active participation in the arts, sport and the wider community.

Our aim is to enable all our young people to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to enrich their own lives and the society in which they live.
