Welcome to Balby Carr Community Academy

I am writing to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Balby Carr Community Academy and welcome you to what will be a very busy and exciting year ahead. I am absolutely delighted to have started in post and look forward to working with the students, staff and you to continue the drive on raising standards.

Parents and carers will have received a letter from Martin Craig, Martin took the difficult decision over the summer to take early retirement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Martin on behalf of all the staff at Balby for his dedication and hard work over the last nine years.

Balby Carr Community Academy has many strengths and enormous potential; I am excited by the prospect of leading its next phase of development. The relationships between staff, students and parents/carers are fundamental to the success of the school. Working together, we can ensure that students enjoy their time at Balby Carr, make good progress and leave us as responsible, well-qualified, mature young people, ready to make a valued contribution to society.

In order to introduce myself more formally and to obtain a wider knowledge of the school and its community, I will be arranging a series of informal consultation evenings for parents/carers later in the term. In the meantime, could I please ask that you support the school by ensuring students get off to the best possible start by getting the basics right; turning up to school every day, on-time, in full school uniform and equipped ready to learn.
