Welcome to Bilborough College

We’ve always known our sixth-form college is special in what it offers to students: a wide range of A-level, BTEC and International Baccalaureate subjects taught in world-class facilities by talented teachers - many of whom are practitioners in their fields. It’s a place where individuality is celebrated, where boundaries are pushed and where excellence is – through hard work and determination – completely achievable. In order to convey the supportive, friendly environment of Bilborough College to our prospective new intake including international students, as well as their parents and our feeder schools, we worked with top design agency Happy Giraffe on streamlining our brand.

We realised there is no one better to sell the Bilborough Sixth Form College experience - including its success stories and unrivalled student support - to new applicants, than current and former students. After all, they’re the ones living it daily, with the intensity, excitement, hard work and fun that come with being aged 16 to 19 and preparing for university or a career. They have an instinctive feel for what potential new students need to know and can speak to them in the right language at the right level. So that’s how our brand – distilled in the strapline ‘A future less ordinary’ and carried through with student testimonials - was born.

We look forward to meeting you at one of our open days soon.

About us

Bilborough Sixth Form College caters for students aged 16 to 19 years old, wanting to study AS and A-levels, BTEC or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in an academic, supportive and sociable environment. Ours is also an environment fully equipped for learning: in 2005 we took residence in a new, purpose-built building, complete with specialist teaching facilities and the latest technologies.

We’re glad to be able to meet all your requests for subject combinations, no matter how unusual. We also provide you with excellent careers advice, and have held the national Career Mark for quality provision for more than a decade. College careers and guidance counsellors are on site five days a week, helping you take the smartest possible route to achieving your dreams.

Although we’re larger than a school sixth form, our modest size enables us to educate you as an individual. Help is always available from our dedicated Student Support Team. You will be assigned a personal tutor whose role is dedicated to supporting you. You and your fellow tutees will have regular once a week tutorials, and you’ll have opportunities throughout the year to meet one to one with them and review your academic progress.

Additional support

Whether you need help in applying to college, sorting out your transport to and from classes, or advice on financial hardship and bursary applications, we are here to help.

If you’re falling behind with your studies, worried about something in college or at home, or in need of practical support, please come and talk to us. We’re here to remove any barriers preventing you from achieving your academic and social potential at Bilborough.

Learner success

Bilborough College students are celebrating after achieving excellent results.

There was 99.2% A Level pass rate, exceeding 98% for the twelfth consecutive year, with 27 of the subjects on offer reaching pass rates of 100%.

A total of 752 students took A Levels in summer 2016 and 9% of entries achieved grade A*.

Twenty-five per cent of entries achieved A*- A, 3% more than the previous year, while over 50% achieved grades A*-B.

78 of the college’s students excelled, gaining 3 or more A and A* grades

Principal Chris Bradford said “We’re incredibly proud of what our students have achieved and the fact that so many of them are now poised to take the next exciting step in their careers. They’ve worked very hard to achieve these results and it’s great to see their efforts rewarded as well as that of the teachers and support staff who work with them.

“We’re delighted that so many of our students have done so well. Some come to us with outstanding GCSE results; we also offer places to those with a minimum of 5 grade C passes and they have achieved some excellent outcomes right across the board. It’s rewarding to see students moving on to such positive destinations at university or into employment.

“Following on from our best ever International Baccalaureate Diploma results in July and a very strong set of BTEC Diploma outcomes this news is particularly encouraging.
