Welcome to Buxton Community School

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Buxton Community School website.  I am very proud and privileged to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of the school.

Buxton Community School prides itself on being at the heart of the community and its ability to meet the needs of all learners, regardless of ability or background.  We currently have approximately 1250 students on roll, including a sixth form of around 200. We believe in a balanced curriculum provision at Key Stage 3, which develops at KS4 into a core curriculum that is supplemented by a wide range of options. Outstanding teaching and learning are at the heart of all we do. Our curriculum is enriched by a wide range of additional learning experiences and this is a real strength of the school.

We are currently judged by Ofsted to be a ‘good’ school with outstanding aspects of provision. Since the last inspection we have worked hard to improve and this is reflected in improving results for the school at a time of falling national levels of attainment.  The future looks very bright for Buxton Community School and we will continue to work hard to maintain our high standards and expectations of everyone within the school.

We believe that parents have a very important role to play in the education of their children and we actively encourage close co-operation between home and school.

I hope you find all you need on our website but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require any further information.  We look forward to working with you and your children.
