Welcome to Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy

Schools within the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation have provided outstanding Sixth Form opportunities for well over a hundred years. The Sixth Form at Crayford Academy builds upon this strong ethos and expectations of high academic outcomes, with the ambition that the majority of our students go on to Higher Education. We guarantee that students will have access to specialist teaching, state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated pastoral support.

Our Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Wednesday 2nd November 2016 from 18:00 to 20:00.

Our curriculum

At Haberdasher’s Aske’s Crayford Academy we believe that everyone has the right to an ‘outstanding’ education. We are committed to delivering the highest quality provision to enable our students to succeed, not only in their sixth form studies, but also within the school as inspiring role models and beyond their time at Haberdashers’. To this end, we offer a broad curriculum, including all facilitating subject areas so that our students can fulfil their highest aspirations. Our enrichment programme also includes the qualifications and learning experiences highly sought by admission tutors and employers alike.

Entry requirements

To enrol at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy Sixth Form, all students will need to have secured 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) A*-C grades, including a C or above in English and Maths. To have access to the full range of courses, students are required to obtain an Average Point Score (APS) of 41.5 or above (details on how to calculate the APS are available at the back of this course guide). Courses requiring an APS of 41.5+ and subject entry specific criteria are detailed under each subject in the course guide. The criteria have been set so that students embark on the right programme of study for them and can experience success in their courses at this crucial stage of their education.

Academic Expectations

Sixth Form students at Crayford Academy are full-time students. We expect them to study and complete three A-Levels (or equivalent courses) over Year 12 and Year 13 and commit to an additional fifteen hours of independent study each week outside of their lessons to ensure their academic success. We encourage students to maintain the highest standards of work and academic study over other commitments. This is to fully prepare them to the demands of university life, apprenticeships or employment.

Students will therefore need to select 3 courses from this guide when applying to Haberdashers’ Aske’s Crayford Academy Sixth Form. Students should pay particular attention to the information about progression routes and useful course combinations when selecting their qualifications for next year.
