Welcome to Wednesfield High Specialist Engineering Academy


As the proud Headteacher of this amazing school I am delighted to share with you through this website some of the things that make our school so special. We are a highly ambitious school determined to produce the highest quality education for every student. We have an amazing, talented and dedicated team of staff providing the richest opportunites both within the classroom and beyond.

About us

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all our students from 11 – 18 to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.  The revised National Curriculum sets the framework for us to use.

In Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 & 9) all students study each curriculum subject with specialist staff. Our curriculum allows students the opportunity to study a wide range of individual subjects.

We have an exciting and innovative approach to our Lesson 7 where all students will participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities across the week.  There is a bespoke programme of activities for each year group.  The programme is designed to enrich and extend the students’ academic curriculum, develop personal and social skills and provide an opportunity for supervised study.

In Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) an element of choice is introduced into our examination courses.  We will ensure that breadth and balance are maintained as well as giving all students an opportunity to gain high quality qualifications.  All students study English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Citizenship and Physical Education.  Students then choose from a selection of subjects ranging from Art, Music, Drama, History, Geography, a Modern Foreign Language, Business Studies, Psychology, Sociology and a range of vocational subjects including Engineering, Health and Social Care, Media Studies, Travel and Tourism, and Child Studies. Careful careers guidance and individual discussions assist in the choice of such options for examination level.

The Post 16 curriculum provides students with an opportunity to specialise in a smaller number of subjects.  Again, we ensure that students are able to follow an academically demanding programme of AS and A level subjects if that is appropriate for them as well as offering exciting opportunities to follow a more vocational route in preparation for Higher Education or employment.

Facilities available

We endeavour to develop a school of uploaders not downloaders.  We want our students to contribute to the world wide web and not just take from it. 

Our students develop skills using a wide range of hardware and software.  From desktop PCs and Apple iMacs to netbooks and Macbooks. 

Our students produce great work with iPads in lessons on a daily basis with all subject zones having class sets to use.  This all contributes to students researching and presenting their learning in new and exciting ways. 

Our work has been recognised not just at a local level but also internationally.  Multimedia teaching and learning is central to what we do everyday here at Wednesfield High School.

Additional support

Students are encouraged and supported to become effective learners and make the most of their time at the school. 

We have an amazing team of staff who constantly strive  to provide the best for all students. They are stunning and reflect our values to go the extra mile for every child.  They contribute significantly to the high quality teaching and learning that our students enjoy.

We support all staff to ensure they provide the best lessons with the best resources and achieve the best outcomes. 

Our support staff team all work closely with teaching staff in order to ensure  that our students are encouraged to work to their potential and realise their aspirations.

Our team of administration, specialist technician and site management staff ensure our school and its resources are very efficiently managed.
