Welcome to Penglais School
There are many good reasons to stay for (or join) Penglais School's Sixth Form. The school regularly achieves some of the best examination results in Wales. Most of our students go forward to higher education and many others achieve good vocational qualifications.
Our staying on rate is much higher than the national average and we provide a full range of AS/A2 courses and the Welsh Baccalaureate.
We can also offer very good pastoral care and guidance which assure much personal attention.
Academic success is, of course, vital but sixth formers at Penglais also contribute to other areas of achievement. These include Community Service, raising money for charities, organising discos for younger students, major contributions to school music and sport, assisting lower school tutors, reading clinics and the school's personal, social and health education programme.
Being a member of the Penglais Sixth Form will bring not only privileges but also some responsibilities. As the most senior students in the school there is a prime responsibility to influence younger members of the school in a positive and constructive way.
Penglais extremely focused outstanding University has a very vibrant and active Sixth Form where learners are valued and supported as individuals. We are extremely focused on our goal of providing every opportunity to our students to develop into well-rounded, well -qualified and active citizens.
Results in our Sixth Form are outstanding with the average grade being AAB in 2014. In 2014 – 76% of our pupils went to University, whilst 24% either took a gap year, went to college or on to work.
