Welcome to Framwellgate School

About us

Framwellgate School Durham is a large, 11 to 18 secondary school with approximately 1,200 students. The school operates from its main campus at Framwellgate Moor Durham and in its most recent Ofsted Inspection, was graded as a "good" school with significant "outstanding" features.

Framwellgate School Durham is a place where education is viewed as a lifetime pursuit and skills for learning are seen as vital tools to shape young peoples’ futures. The experience of learning here is designed to inspire students to explore their talents and provide them with intellectual challenges and the support they need to meet them.

At Framwellgate School Durham, excellence is a given. Our 2013 results were exceptional and we believe that they are founded on a track record of outstanding provision, high quality pastoral care and community aspiration. We believe we achieve results through a balance of traditional academic rigour and pragmatic innovation.

We are a school that delivers more than examination results: there is an exceptional range of opportunities available for students to engage with beyond the classroom and the wider responsibility that a school has to foster reflective, responsible and proactive citizens is one that we take seriously.

Students at Framwellgate School Durham are encouraged to respect others, value learning and curiosity and work hard. This is stated very clearly is our ‘Culture for Learning’ statement about the Three ‘R’s: respect, Responsibility and the Right Attitude.

Mr Alisdair Nicholas,

Head Teacher
