Welcome to K2 Development
Our fundamental belief is that everyone has the right to learn, develop and achieve. This is at the heart of the organisation’s philosophy and so our programs are designed and developed to inspire people to fulfil their true potential.
We believe that everyone has the opportunity to succeed in life through learning and development. We are committed to realising and developing your potential.
To achieve this we focus on the following three fundamental principles:
- We believe in delivering a quality service for individuals.
- We believe in being a customer focused organisation.
- We believe in developing our staff so that they are truly inspired to reach their full potential in order to support you reaching yours.
Quality first means never accepting second best.
K2 Development is a faculty of the CTC Kingshurst Academy which provides vocational work-based education for students. The CTC is a vibrant community which, for more than 24 years, has been helping support students in gaining the confidence and skills to succeed in adulthood and to play a positive role in society.
The CTC is an innovative, outward looking Academy, responding to the changing needs of its students. It is a unique institution, at the cutting edge of education and training in the twenty-first century. We have many pioneering educational initiatives that have produced good examination results in both vocational and academic subjects.

K2 prides itself on the quality of its student support services, They’re staffed by professionals who have a wealth of experience and all students are encouraged to take advantage of the services on offer.
Additional Learning Support.
We have expertise in supporting learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, medical conditions, visual impairment, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and hearing impairment; have learning difficulties, mobility difficulties, or English as a second language. Support comes in different forms, and can mean the help of staff in or out of class, assistive technology, or adjustments made by staff.
We strongly urge students or their parents/carers to disclose any disability, medical condition, or learning difficulty prior to enrolment, so that we can fulfil our responsibilities under Part 4 of the Disability Discrimination Act and ensure that adjustments or facilities are put in place at the start of a student’s course.
Careers and Educational Guidance.
During the course of their studies, students have access to our comprehensive range of information on careers, higher education and the labour market, and advice and guidance to help them plan the next step towards their chosen career.
A multifaith room is available to all learners whatever their beliefs, faith, or religion.
Counselling and Welfare Support.
Confidential support will be sourced if required.
The College provides information and confidential advice on financial help available for students. This includes information on 16-19 bursaries, Discretionary Support Funds and other learner support that might be available. There may be help towards travel costs, meals, equipment, or childcare costs depending on your circumstances, age, and course.
For more information visit www.direct.gov.uk and put ‘money to learn’ in the search bar at the home page.
All K2 students are asked to sign a Learner Agreement at the start of their course. This sets out the expectations in terms of students’ punctuality, attendance, completion of work and standards of behaviour towards staff and other students.
A Scholar’s Photo Card is available for full-time students aged 16-18 which entitles them to half-fare travel in West Midlands. Application forms can be collected from K2 reception after enrolling on a course.
Students with disabilities may be eligible for special transport and you should contact your Local Education Authority for further details.
Once enrolled on a course, students are assigned a lead tutor who will support their learning journey and complete their progress reviews at regular meetings. Students will also meet with their Pastoral Tutor to discuss progress and any issues or problems they may be encountering. As part of their Pastoral Tutor Group, students will develop academic, personal and employability skills which both enhance their overall K2 experience and improve their prospects for progression.
K2 has its own library which is well stocked with books relating to the subject areas taught, together with magazines and DVDs. Our libraries also have open access computers, bookable computers and a full range of e-resources including e-books, full-text newspapers and magazines. The information centre also has quiet places for study, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and facilities for scanning, printing, and photocopying.
