Welcome to New Charter Academy & 6th Form
A BRIGHTER FUTURE
This is one of the most exciting 6th Form partnerships to be developed in the whole of the country. New Charter Academy 6th Form is in partnership with two of the most successful independent schools in England - Manchester High School for Girls and Manchester Grammar School for Boys.
Our aim is to provide an extraordinary experience for our students and help them secure their future goals, whether this is the university or apprenticeship place of their choice or full-time employment. This unique learning experience will pursue excellence and enable our students to develop the skills and attitudes that will lead them to success.
The 6th Form students have the facilities of the top floor at the Academy. This includes computer and laptop access, a careers library, a quite study room, a common room with kitchen facilities and an outdoor terrace for use in summer months.
6th Form students are welcome to use the facilities within the Academy and we encourage the students to mix with year groups 7-11. New Charter Academy 6th Form students are well respected by the staff and students alike, acting as role models for the students in the lower year groups.
Students can access the support of the Head of 6th Form and Year Manager throughout the day, together with the support of HE Advisors, Careers Advisors, teaching and pastoral staff.
We pride ourselves on our supportive environment, with small classes’ sizes and a focus on structured independent learning. Students are valued individually and supported academically and pastorally on a 1:1 basis and students. All of our 6th Form students will be expected to undertake work experience. We recognise the value of this and so, work experience is compulsory for all Year 12 students. All of our 6th Form students have the opportunity to participate in clubs, societies and committees. We offer the Duke of Edinburgh award and Extended Project Qualification. We have fantastic links with local and national universities, including Oxbridge and the Russell Group of universities. We also work closely with The Challenge as part of the National Citizen Service to provide even more opportunities for our students to get involved and develop themselves.
We are supported by some of the most successful A-level teachers in England. We provide a unique offer – individual Higher Education (HE) Advisors for all of our students. Our HE Advisors support students throughout Year 12 and Year 13 in their search and application for higher education. The majority of our student’s progress on to university and in every year since opening, 100% of our students has been accepted at their first choice university.
