Welcome to Chase High School

"The sixth form is good. Students' achievement has improved and teaching is good." Ofsted 2013

You’ll discover a lot more about yourself at Chase High Sixth Form. Whether you’re looking ahead to a career, higher education or further training, you’ll find the freedom and support to explore your options and pursue your ambitions.

You’ll be encouraged to build up your confidence and all-round employability – as well as equipping yourself with the most relevant knowledge and skills. And you’ll appreciate being treated as an adult, in a grown-up learning environment that’s more like a modern workplace than a school or a huge, impersonal college (we even have two businesses operating here, run by the students themselves). Take a look around you. Our Sixth Form has been purpose-built as part of a £multi-million investment in state-of-the-art facilities. It’s the space you need to express yourself… to excel as an individual and as a valued member of a friendly community… to achieve your full potential and bring your dreams closer to reality.

About us

Additional opportunities

We celebrate and encourage difference and diversity, in the Sixth Form and outside it. We’re proud of our close links with the local community, our contacts around the world, and our commitment to using these to enrich your experience. But we’re not here to force you into extracurricular activities or to spoon-feed you ideas. We give you the responsibility – and the opportunities – to make your own choices.

Employment Opportunities

You’ll discover that there are plenty of opportunities to work while you’re here. Many of our departments employ students as Assistants, preparing equipment and generally helping the Subject Leader. You’ll go through a proper recruitment process to give you experience of a real interview situation – and of course these are paid roles doing relevant work, much better than an exhausting evening job!

Student Ambassadors

You could also become a Student Ambassador, helping to promote Chase High and the Sixth Form to prospective students and the general public by providing tours, as well as officiating at Sixth Form events. It’s a great way to develop communication and problem-solving skills that will help you in the future.

Trips and Visits

There are usually all sorts of different trips and visits organised throughout the year to support your studies, inspire your thinking and ambitions, or help prepare you for the worlds of higher education and employment. Typically, based on previous years, these might include: Disneyland Paris (Business & Media Conference); Houses of Parliament; various universities; UCAS conventions; Pineapple Dance Studios; Thorpe Park; Colchester Zoo; Residential Summer School; Auschwitz, Poland.

Facilities available

Only a short time ago, Chase High invested a lot of money and a lot of careful thought into its brand-new Sixth Form building. The result is a purpose-built learning environment for young adults that looks and feels much more like a contemporary creative workplace than a college or a school.

Here students benefit from fully-equipped, state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities, with access to all the industry-standard technology they need: be that a powerful gaming computer; a DSLR camera; or a latest generation X-trainer in the dedicated gym. But it’s not just about the ‘stuff’. We also provide space. Space to think and come up with your own ideas. Space to meet and ‘brainstorm’ with your peers. Space to showcase your own work and explore the work of others. Space to succeed.

As you take a look around our Sixth Form, you’ll also find two very special, very real businesses, reflecting our firm focus on enhancing employability through practical experience. The Beauty Lounge is equipped to high street standards and open to the public for a wide range of hair and beauty treatments. Café Blue is open every day in the main space (and out on the patio in good weather!) serving bistro meals, teas and cakes. Both businesses are staffed by our students.

Additional support

Beyond your studies

We want you to have fun here, to make great friends, find new interests and develop as a happy, healthy, positive person with plenty of hopes and dreams. But what we’re really focused on are your educational and employment outcomes. Coming to Chase High is about getting the best qualifications for you as an individual, and the best start in life once you move beyond the Sixth Form.

Careers Support

We’re here to help you decide what to do after Sixth Form. Our Careers Advisor will be able to provide you with personalised support and guidance to ensure you choose the best options for you: whether that’s moving into training, entering the workplace, or moving on to higher education at college or university. A whole range of practical assistance is available, including help with CV writing and job applications, mock interviews, visiting speakers and possible work experience.

English and Maths Support

Because these subjects are so important for your all-round education and job prospects, if you need any extra assistance in English or Maths, we’re ready to help you develop these skills and achieve recognised qualifications.

Apprenticeships

We’re committed to exploring the most innovative ways of teaching and learning, not just to stimulate your interest but also to provide the best preparation for your future career. Currently we’re developing Apprenticeship opportunities, enabling you to earn and learn alongside experienced staff, with days off to train towards nationally recognised qualifications. These will be at Levels 2 and 3 in areas of Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing.
