Welcome to West Berkshire Council

An apprenticeship is a combination of employment and training for anyone above the age of 16; however the posts in the council are only available to those aged 16 to 19 due to funding.

All apprenticeships must last for at least 12 months. At West Berkshire Council, we offer a one year fixed term contract, during which we will work with West Berkshire Training Consortium (WBTC) to help you achieve an intermediate apprenticeship.

Once you are employed at West Berkshire Council you will have a variety of opportunities available to you, including in-house training and development alongside your apprenticeship, and you can apply for any internal vacancies advertised.

Your off-the-job training will be provided by WBTC, and will follow a set framework which covers the core skills needed for the job.

You will receive the National Minimum Wage; £3.79 per hour if you are under 18, increasing to £5.13 per hour if you are aged 18 and over.

How to apply

If you want to apply for courses, you will need to contact West Berkshire Council directly.
