We are currently a small Sixth Form and as a result can offer a personalised, friendly experience. Each student will receive support from a Personal Tutor as well as the opportunity to get involved in a range of other activities that the school offers, from Sport to the Performing Arts. Most of our Year 12 students follow the Progression Module, which supports them through applications to universities, apprenticeships and employment providers. In 2016 76% of our students were offered places at University or Theatre school. This is well above the national average.
Students have their own centre including a common room, independent learning room and classrooms with extensive ICT facilities.
For Performing Arts we have a 300 seat theatre, three drama studios and two dance studios as well as a suite of music and rehearsal rooms.
Students also benefit from being taught by an experienced and dedicated team of staff.
Students are expected to be in school every day with the determination to do the best that they can.
As well as a Head of Sixth Form working to secure you the best possible opportunities, each student is allocated a Personal Tutor. In addition, there are qualified and dedicated staff available to advise you about your post Airedale future who work alongside experienced careers staff. Students have gone on to study a wide range of degree level courses and in 2016 a record number of our students were accepted at private theatre schools. Students also successfully go on to apprenticeships and into employment.
Students have just received their results following a very successful two years of study. 100% of the students who completed their full 2 year course passed their qualifications, many of these achieved well above their target grades.
In 2016 our results put us in the top 4% of schools in the country for similar qualifications. In Performing Arts our results were outstanding with all students gaining top grades. We expect recent results to be equally impressive. (Ratified 2017 results are not yet available for reporting)
Students are also involved in a wide range of other activities both in school and in the community. Some work closely with Junior Schools, or in local hospitals, some work in our Performance Academy coaching younger students or as sports ambassadors, whilst others are involved in fund raising or supporting subjects in other areas of the school. We firmly believe that these experiences help our students to be so successful when applying for HE places.
Our Performing Arts students can often be seen on TV in shows such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Victoria and even in the movies! They also work closely with the public services producing their training videos.
